The school counselors at Barnegat High School welcome you to the services that are provided to all students. The counseling office provides all students a place where they can feel comfortable talking about their academic and career plans. Students can also talk to counselors about personal problems that may be interfering with their academic success.
Parents are invited to contact their child’s counselor with concerns about scheduling, college and career planning, and social/emotional issues.
Teachers and administrators are invited to talk to counselors about ways to help students achieve better success within their classrooms. Counselors are an essential link between parent, student, and teacher. Counselors can schedule parent-teacher meetings in which academic or social issues can be worked out, and solutions can be discussed.
Academic/Social Development
Barnegat High School students have a wealth of resources at their fingertips for supporting their academic pursuits. The counselors can help students discuss and recognize their strengths and weaknesses and how to use both of those to their advantage. Counselors can provide help with study skills, organizational skills, time-management skills, and other social skills related to academic success.
College and Career Counseling
The counseling office at BHS contains a College and Career Center. Students can spend time in the College and Career Center during their lunch, homeroom, after school, or during a class with teacher permission. Computers are available in the resource center for college searches, for interest inventories, or for any other career and college related information gathering. The college and career resource center is open to all grade levels. All students have access to the Princeton Review’s ECOS program in which they have an established login and password at BHS. Students can use the ECOS system anywhere they have internet access. If the student has lost their login and password, they can see their school counselor.
