Dear Dunfee School Families,
It is hard to believe that the school year has come to a close. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support of our school and programs. It is with the outstanding staff at the Dunfee School and your involvement in your child’s education that have helped make the 2012/13 school year a positive learning experience for our students. In addition, our R.O.A.R. program continued to place emphasis on positive behavior in all school settings and was our driving force in “celebrating excellence” and building a harmonious, productive school community.
Summer is a wonderful opportunity for families to spend quality time together and for children to slow down and unwind. However, I would take advantage of this atmosphere to encourage your child to initiate his/her own learning opportunities. Learning can occur in any given situation; through trips, family activities and free exploration time. Encourage your child to write in a journal daily, visit the local library to check-out books, make time to read each day, practice math facts, visit a museum and explore the beach.
As the final days of the year unwind, I would like to wish our fifth grade students the best of luck as they move on to the Russell O. Brackman Middle School. We will remember the time they spent at the Dunfee School fondly and are proud of all they have accomplished. Needless to say, we will miss our fifth grade students very much!
On a final note, I would like to extend a fond farewell to Mrs. Laura Sarluca, our second grade teacher, who will be retiring at the end of the school year. Mrs. Sarluca has been a teacher at the Dunfee School since 1981 and will be missed by the faculty, students, and Dunfee School families. We wish Mrs. Sarluca much happiness in her retirement!
Have a safe, happy and healthy summer vacation!!
